Lankum are considered the innovators of traditional sound in the Irish folk music scene. With their first two albums and their fantastic live shows, the band around brothers Ian and Daragh Lynch, Cormac MacDiarmada and Radie Peat already gained an enthusiastic fan base.

With "The Livelong Day" (2019) the band now explores the boundaries between alternative Irish folk and psychedelic sounds. The album was recorded and produced by John "Spud" Murphy in the Meadow and Guerrilla Sounds Studio between March and May this year.

With their third studio album, the band once again becomes the talk of the scene, because Lankum knows like no other band of the time how to elegantly fuse the different styles and facets of Irish folk. An important instrument on "The Livelong Day" is the Uilleann Pipe, a kind of Irish bagpipe, which on the album, a bit misused, provides a heavy drone like sound. Lankum thus experiment with historical instruments and give a classical sound a new texture. Remarkable is also the creation of the two songs "The Young People" and "Hunting The Wren", which were developed in cooperation with the young Irish songwriter Lisa O'Neil in a kind of songwriting challenge, where both parties set themselves certain tasks concerning the content of the lyrics as well as the music, thus becoming mutual driving forces. "The Livelong Day" is an album that bows down to the rich history of Irish folk, yet still goes its own way. Lankum lead the sound of the Emerald Isle into a new age with their feeling for tradition, history and melody.
