Blue Art Orchestra
Under the direction of Cologne pianist Georg Ruby, the Blue Art Orchestra is engaged in an intensive and individual way with the interpretation of contemporary material for jazz orchestras. Besides compositions by Georg Ruby, the band also works with arrangements by musicians such as Gil Evans, Gian-Luigi Trovesi, Christina Fuchs, Kenny Wheeler, Pierre Bertrand and Nicolas Folmer (Paris Jazz Big Band).
And what is a jazz orchestra without its band voice: the BAO integrates the Cologne vocalist Barbara Barth as a feature soloist and as a "colour" integrated into the band context, acting without text.
Georg Ruby is a founding member of the legendary "Stadtgarten-Project" in Cologne. He can be experienced as solo pianist, with his trio "Village Zone" and as musical partner of the Luxembourg bass clarinettist Michel Pilz. The joint duo production "Deuxième Bureau" was voted "Album of the Year" by the New York City Jazz Record.
