Jazz at GREEN ROOM: KRISTINA 4

For her project "KRISTINA 4" the Cologne alto and soprano saxophonist Kristina Brodersen has created a wonderful repertoire, which offers music and musicians in an instrumentation without harmony instrument great creative freedom. Inspired by the freedom-loving music of Ornette Coleman of the late 50s and 60s, she pursues the goal of combining her "konitzsche" motivic art of improvisation with a free and open way of playing. This is unmistakable in the compositions "Monstertanz" and "Don ́s Time". Kristina Brodersen dedicated the latter to Ornette Coleman's long-time band mate from this period, the trumpeter Don Cherry. The reference to the music of the legendary soprano saxophonist Steve Lacy is also clearly audible. Lacy was also committed to the ideal of combining melodically and harmonically sophisticated jazz improvisation with "avant-garde" freedom.
The formation "KRISTINA 4" is therefore excellently staffed with correspondingly versatile and brilliant musicians: the renowned trumpeter Bastian Stein, old master Christian Ramond on bass, the accomplished drummer Silvio Morger and last but not least Kristina Brodersen herself. An ideal line-up to meet the high demands of the repertoire.
On the CD "Mrs Green", which will be released by KLAENG on August 30th, 2919, Kristina will now present the completely successful project.
