Acht Brücken 2021: Places We Go // Hendrika Entzian Quartet feat. Veronika Morscher
By now it is well known that Hendrika Entzian, born in Kiel in 1984 and living in Cologne since 2009, is a sovereign bandleader, a composer with a sense of sound and a double bass player who plays with a powerful tone: She has released three albums - the first two with her quartet - and in 2018 she was awarded the WDR Jazz Prize in the "Composition" category. But Entzian always continues to look for ways to leave the comfort zone of the known and take on new challenges. For "Places We Go", she has now made room in her composition room and challenged the musicians in her quartet to write music that is figurative and narrative. With singer Veronika Morscher and guitarist Hanno Busch, she then expanded her band to a sextet in order to focus even more on the diversity and eloquence of her contemporary jazz music. Harmonic surfaces and rhythmic layers constantly slide in and over each other, tonal streaks let "Places We Go" always shimmer in a mysterious glimmering light.
The concert will be recorded by WDR for radio. The broadcast date will be announced later.
Supported by the Musikfonds e.V. with project funds from the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media.
