All We Are
Since the release of their (Kate Tempest, MIA, Hot Chip) debut album produced by Dan Carey on Domino/Double Six in February 2015, All We Are have enlightened Europe with their atmospheric shows and groovy anthems.
As their albums prove, the three from Liverpool - Richard O'Flynn (drums), Guro Gikling (bass) and Luis Santos (guitar) - embrace everything groove-based and psychedelic in the music, from soul, hip-hop to pop, creating an intoxicating universe of warmth, emotionally astute lyrics and irresistible rhythms. With influences from post-punk, early 80s/90s electronic music and more, including recent personal observations and experiences, create a bright, powerful and increasingly urgent version of All We Are.
"We wanted to make music that reflected the changes that were happening around us," says Richard. "These are hard times for everyone, it's not a foreign word in Liverpool," says Guro. "...and musicians are a reflection of the places from which they draw their influences," says Luis.
The atmosphere remains, the energy and the joy of life that All We Are bring to the stage characterize the trio, but the world is a different place now. Paranoia isolated and hard times create harsh climates. The darkness forces to melancholy and only the drive cuts through the noise. As Ian Curtis said: "I exist in the best conditions I have. The past is now part of my future. The present is out of control".
