Andy Sheppard & Espen Eriksen Trio

The british Jazz star Andy Sheppard and the Scandinavian Espen Eriksen Trio just released their first album „Perfectly Unhappy“, which has been awarded with great critics. Now they will play at the Stadtgarten for the first time in this combination and next to their own material, they will play the music of Carla Bley, which Andy Sheppard shares a long friendship and collaboration with.

When Espen Eriksen Trio embarked on their first full scale UK tour in 2016 and saxophonist Andy Sheppard joined the Trio for two concerts in London, it was clear that something special is about to happen. From the first notes it was clear that this was a perfect match. The interplay was seamless and it was as if the melodies of pianist Espen Eriksen were specially written for Andy Sheppard. A wonderful collaboration was born which lead to the album and a European Tour in autumn 2018.



All the more we are happy to welcome Andy Sheppard and the Espen Eriksen Trio outside of the official tour for this very special show. We look forward to an exciting interplay of four musicians who are on the top of their game.

Yesterday we were informed that Carla Bley was hospitalized in New York. Therefore she had to cancel a concert or tour for the first time in her long career.
While the concerns about her health is standing before everything – after all the turned 82 in may – we have to solve the problems resulting out of this situation. The concert was nearly sold out.
Andy Sheppard, who would have been a part in Carla Bley's trio, offered to play with the Espen Eriksen Trio. We think this is a great idea. The quartet is well-rehearsed, will play pieces of Carla Bley among their own and since we fly the four in from London and Oslo it will be an exclusive concert.

The tickets for the concert on July 17th 2018 as well as the festival tickets for SUMMER JAZZ (including June 16th/17th and 20st) remain effective.

Off course we offer to give back already bought tickets. Our ticket provider "ticket i/o" will recompense the whole price along with all pre-sale fairs. This also applies for the festival tickets. Only the extra costs for already ordered hard tickets can not be refunded.

All tickets that are not wished to be refunded by 10.07.2018 remain effective for the concert of "Andy Sheppard and Espen Eriksen Trio" on 17.07.2018.
