AUSVERKAUFT: Der Literarische Salon mit Saša Stanišić
Seldom are critics and audiences so unanimous: Saša Stanišić is the star among Germany's younger authors (41 is still young for us!), who exclusively presents successful novels - and always surprises with a new twist, increase, variation of his literary mastery. Everyone noticed that his most recent novel "Origin" was awarded the German Book Prize in 2019. Less well-known is the fact that Stanišić even won a science prize for his master's thesis on Wolf Haas. And so it went on and on, without his writing or appearance ever becoming commodious. On the contrary, the quiet anger speech he gave at the book award ceremony in October not only stirred up the literary business. And somehow it is also true - let me mention it here - that a Bosnian child, who fled with his parents to Germany during the Balkan War in 1992, today stands like hardly anyone else for hope in German literature.
