Amidst the seemingly endless number of genres in current pop music, Daisy Grow Yellow seem to have found their niche: pop with heart. The band around vocalist Corinne Bahia, drummer Jakob Krickeberg, bassist Helge Klein and guitarist Dung Hoang formed into a unit while working on their first EP in the summer of 2019.Initially touring asCorinne Bahia & Band, inspired by their lyrical content and artistic mission, they decided on their new name from that point on: Daisy Grow Yellow. The name represents an unabashed optimism and a celebration of human resilience and interdependence. Whether encouraging kindness to oneself in "Be Gentle" or calling for justice in "Same Dust," DGY make music that not only makes you feel good, but also reminds you that good can be done. "Hasn't anybody ever told you, the world is made of more than it's borders and lines," Corinne sings in "About Me." In this song from herfirst EP, she grapples with how she is perceived as a light-skinned black American living in Germany. These homegrown stories are a feature in DGY's music and are a big part of what makes the band stand out. They make up, to put it this way, the "heart" that is in pop.

Marlena Käthe grew up in Berlin as the daughter of a theatre family. She spends her childhood touring Europe. Between school and travelling she starts writing and making music. In her lyrics she records everything - excesses, fears, losses. Also as a method to bring something in the changeability of her reality into form for herself. She plays with a band, in a trio with Shanice Ruby Bennett and Leonie Geisler as well as solo concerts.

Her sound results from electronic noisescapes, warm acoustic guitars and spherical polyphony and coins the term darkfolk. Thus, they played at the Pop Kultur Nachwuchsbühne in 2020 and could be seen at the c/o Pop xoxo. Their debut EP will be released in spring 2021.
