Blue Art Orchestra

The BAO is a jazz orchestra that, under the direction of pianist Georg Ruby, explores the interpretation of contemporary material for jazz orchestra in an intensive and individual way. In addition to material by Georg Ruby, the band works with compositions and arrangements by musicians such as Gil Evans, Gian- Luigi Trovesi, Christina Fuchs, Kenny Wheeler, Django Bates and Maria Schneider, among others, and the bandbook of the Paris Jazz Big Band.

Georg Ruby is co-founder of the legendary Cologne Stadtgarten project and can be experienced as solo pianist, with his trio or quartet "Village Zone" and as musical partner of the Luxembourgish bass clarinettist Michel Pilz. He directs the jazz course at the Hochschule für Musik Saar in Saarbrücken and has been running the Cologne label JazzHausMusik for many years.
