Bodurov Trio
A poignant voice opens the new album by the Bodurov Trio: the title track Senkya Padna contains a sample of an elderly woman singing an archaic traditional folk song that sets a dark tone. It forms the basis for the dynamic interplay of piano, double bass and drums that is characteristic of the Bodurov Trio. The jazz trio is strongly influenced by folk music and classical composition. Born in Bulgaria and living in Amsterdam, pianist Dimitar Bodurov is still fascinated by the traditional songs and melodies of his home country, which he incorporates into his compositions.
Nevertheless, his trio sounds unmistakable with virtuoso interplay and lively rhythmic structures. The Bodurov Trio has already released six albums and collaborated with illustrious names such as the famous Bulgarian kaval player Theodosii Spassov, the Norwegian saxophonist Trygve Seim and the Israeli trumpeter Itamar Borochov.
Dimitar Bodurov (piano), Mihail Ivanov (bass), Jens Dueppe (drums)
