City of the Sun

City of the Sun may be based in Brooklyn, New York, but their genre-spanning music flows like a tidal wave across all boundaries. The band weaves a mosaic that draws from a global diversity of sounds and cultures. Echoes of indie rock, Latin folk, blues, and world music carry the weight of their stories and memories, revealing entire landscapes.

Founded by guitarist John Pita, who was soon joined by drummer Zach Para, the band later welcomed bassist Matt Fasano and guitarist Marco Bolfelli as permanent members. City of the Sun creates music that feels both intimate and expansive—like a film you can immerse yourself in.

Since their 2016 debut with To The Sun and All the Cities in Between, through their self-titled 2020 album, and on to Segunda Alma from 2022, the band has built a loyal fan base worldwide. As their popularity grew, City of the Sun toured with Peter Bjorn and John and the Thievery Corporation, and their songs resonated with fans on a deeply universal level. Their lush and evocative compositions evoke the sound of desert winds, warm city nights, Mediterranean summers, and the quiet glow of loss and transformation. No wonder audiences from London to Paris to Athens and beyond have welcomed them with sold-out venues—the crowd rose in awe and listened as if every note were a lyric.

Their new album, “Under the Moon,” produced by the legendary Phil Ek (Fleet Foxes, Father John Misty, Built to Spill), marks a kind of return and feels as though they are stepping out of the shadows and into new sunlight.
