Cologne Jazzweek: SO SORRY
In 2023, Zuza Jasinska (vocals), Shanice Ruby Bennet (bass), and Käthe Johanning (keyboards) SO SORRY, and a year later Lenny Rehm (drums) joined the group. It is a collective band in which decisions are made together regarding how the music should sound, which songs to include in the repertoire, and how to present themselves to the outside world. This is perhaps the best way to explain SO SORRY’s equally emotional, extroverted, and sweeping sound, with which this Berlin-based quartet has recently made a name for itself.
Above all, it is this laid-back yet urgent combination of contemporary jazz, alternative pop, and R&B that allows SO SORRY to captivate audiences at their concerts. And then the music also reveals the rebellious spirit of hip-hop or the soulful lyrics of European folklore. With increasing success, as evidenced by SO SORRY’s first-place finishes at the Sparda Jazz Award and the Young Munich Jazz Prize last year.
