The Cologne scene for improvised and contemporary music unites immense creative potential. Its protagonists are particularly characterised by their innovative strength and cooperative working approaches. It is on this basis that the Composers Collective Cologne was founded: an ensemble with a variable line-up that transcends musical and spatial boundaries and offers individually aspiring voices a platform for new compositions and extensive sound research. The organisers of the first two editions of the project, initiated in 2024 with the support of Stadtgarten Köln, Felix Hauptmann, Fabian Dudek and Esther Weickel, are aiming to create an outstanding ensemble that is able to break new ground – collectively, flexibly and visionarily.
While the first edition focused on the Cologne scene, the second – entitled Amsterdam Edition – is specifically dedicated to networking with musicians from the Dutch scene. The exchange creates a field of tension that sets new impulses in an open and risk-taking manner.
The Amsterdam Edition will be presented in two concerts: at Stadtgarten Cologne and at BIMHUIS Amsterdam.
