Unclassified Affections is the fascinating new album from drummer and composer Dan Weiss, bringing together some of the most exciting musicians on the scene: Peter Evans on trumpet, Patricia Brennan on vibraphone and Miles Okazaki on guitar. The music is characterized by fascinating orchestration, deep rhythmic textures and harmonic innovations that take full advantage of the unique combination of instruments. The compositions Weiss has written specifically for these musicians range from deep, meditative moments to intense, energetic climaxes, moving in a world of labyrinthine rhythms and finely graded improvisations, where the unusual musical palette contributes to an otherworldly sonic universe.
