Der Literarische Salon mit Eva Menasse
In der Kulturkirche Nippes. VVK-Start: Anfang Juli
We have been waiting a long time for a new novel from Eva Menasse, who has enthralled us time and again with her wit and acumen, literary mastery and unrelenting knowledge of human nature since her acclaimed debut "Vienna". Her most recent novel "Dunkelblum", published in 2015, was another bestseller and has been translated into many languages. Most recently, however, Menasse has made a name for herself with her intelligent comments on freedom of expression and digitality, Gaza and anti-Semitism. She also co-founded PEN Berlin. Hardly any other public intellectual receives as much attention in the German-speaking world today as the author, who was born in Vienna in 1970, although she stays away from Twitter and talk shows. Because at her core, she has of course remained a writer, awarded the Böll Prize, the Honorary Prize of the Austrian Book Trade and the Hölderlin Prize, among others. We are all the more excited about her new novel: "Alleinruhelage". It's about a marriage that has broken up, but it's actually an interim assessment of the life we cling to, even if it doesn't keep any of its promises.
