DIRK MAASSEN // Neo-Klassik ‚Weekender‘
Five top-class representatives of the genre will be coming to Cologne as part of the neo-classical 'Weekender' from 2 to 4 October 2020. With very limited seats and enough space, we can look forward to unique concerts in the 'Green Room', the roofed open-air area of the Stadtgarten. In case of bad weather the concerts will be moved to the large hall of the Stadtgarten. Here, there is an elaborated hygiene concept with appropriate safety measures for contact restriction, which among other things provides for a place-specific traceability of all guests. During the concerts there is no obligation to wear masks on the seats.
Dirk Maassen began to play the piano at the age of ten and has since acquired a wide range of musical styles. In the 1980s, which - influenced by digital recording techniques and synthesizer sound - put classical instruments in the shade, Dirk started playing in various bands and working on cross-genre projects. In the 1990s he toured with his band "In Contact", with whom he also recorded two albums. At the turn of the millennium he left the music world and continued working in his actual profession as a software developer until he returned to the public as a solo pianist 11 years later. From then on the piano was the direct opportunity for him to materialize his ideas and feelings into something that connects his world with that of his audience.
Dirk Maassen knows like no other how to transport emotions through his works. His music seems to magically reach the subconscious and open doors that were previously undiscovered. To make music tangible, to make music tangible, this is what Dirk Maassen creates in his sensitive, charming and nonchalant way.
An event of a.s.s. concerts.
