If you let yourself be carried away by the lyrics and the vibes, you will feel the power behind it and understand the connection. With nature, with all people and with yourself. He feels the goosebumps, the freedom and of course the fat basses.
The Hamburg band Guacáyo celebrates tolerance and authenticity. Guacáyo's songs move the audience inside and out. Connectedness and bass are palpable and with topics like environmental protection or the "un-shaming" of body hair, no one is left untouched. Musically Guacáyo do not serve any pigeonholes: Influences from reggae, dub and hip-hop flow into a cheeky indie-pop sound. While Sophie's unmistakable voice resounds over the colourful beats, the crowd grooves and sings along. The bubbly 29-year-old comes across on stage as wistful or provocative, a wise companion or angry Amazon. "Say no with all your heart!" she shouts to the attentive audience, announcing the next song, "Lady." It's a call to say "no" to the norm and "yes" to yourself. "No!" resounds through the club and the audience is in a goosebump mood.
The 7-track EP "Lemonade", which will be released in May, tells of the fight against one's own emotional reality, of self-love, of the wild inner child that doesn't feel like being locked down anymore and of the final, powerful realization that you can't control anything except your own attitude. Much like the motto, "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade."
