Ingrid Laubrock's Grammy Season

Ingrid Laubrock’s “Grammy Season” brings together some of the most exciting voices from New York’s avant-garde scene. German-born saxophonist and composer Ingrid Laubrock, who now lives in New York, joins forces here with the extraordinary guitarist Brandon Seabrook, bassist Shawn Lovato, and drummer Tom Rainey. Together, the quartet creates music full of contrasts: powerful improvisations meet sophisticated compositions, chamber-music-like timbres meet eruptive energy. The repertoire is drawn primarily from the acclaimed album *The Last Quiet Place*, which has been hailed by the international music press as one of Laubrock’s strongest works in recent years. The music moves effortlessly between free jazz, contemporary chamber music, rock influences, and collective improvisation.
