"In my piano trio and also in most other bands and projects I dedicate myself mainly to the song form and its variations. In the last 32 years, several hundred pieces of music, ranging from miniatures to larger, through-composed song structures, have been created, which predominantly determine the program of my bands. Gladly, as also today, jazz standards are added.
I have been working with Joscha Oetz on bass for 24 years now in various formations and projects (also as a drummer). Thus our interaction has become very refined and is of great importance to me. Unfortunately I don't know Fabian Ahrends on drums for that long but our musical paths have crossed before (also in this trio).
For me, the piano trio is a very strong, very familiar but also a very challenging formation, especially this line-up with such interactive musicians as Joscha and Fabian, who bring their own colours into my music. For this concert I would like to enrich the trio sound with Matthew Halpin on tenor saxophone. I had planned to play with him for quite some time, but so far I have failed due to time constraints.
I am very much looking forward to this musical and above all: physical-real meeting. Be there!" (N.Tegen)
