The new album of the Chrisine Corvisier Quintet "Chansons de Cologne" is for the bandleader a mixture of her cultural and musical influences. Based on American jazz, these are those of her native France and her adopted hometown of Cologne, where she has lived with her family for a long time.

Christine Corvisier decided to reinvent the French songs of her childhood in a jazz register, with a modern jazz aesthetic representative of the jazz city of Cologne.

"This repertoire of French chansons was dormant in me and combined with the many beautiful memories of my childhood. I just wanted to bring them out, revive them and mix them with my adult life as a jazz musician and expatriate in Cologne. It was an intense and emotional experience for me that I was happy to share with the wonderful musicians in this band who made it possible," explains Christine Corvisier.

The aesthetic and concept of the Christine Corvisier Quintet is based on a natural acoustic sound with plenty of room for improvisation and emphasis on the solo qualities of all band members. In each solo, creativity is maintained through interaction between the musicians, which often takes them in unexpected directions or atmospheres during concerts and is always met with a very positive response from the audience.
