Herwig Gradischnig is a "natural" as a tenor saxophonist and as the group's front man. His mastery of the jazz idiom coupled with a flowing style are both convincing and imaginative. Born in Bruck an der Mur in 1968, "Hank", who grew up with music and now lives in Vienna, is a lecturer at the private university JAM Music Lab.
Guitarist Paul Brändle enriches the band's identity with his distinctive sense of harmony and melody. The calm, level-headed approach with which Paul works reflects his mature character.
Hailing from Lecce, Italy, bassist Giampaolo Laurentaci is a driving and commanding force in RHQ. Giampaolo attended the Prins Claus Conservatorium in Groningen, Holland, and the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya in Barcelona, Spain, where he earned a Master's degree. He expresses his vast knowledge of the jazz tradition with a strong pulse.
Whether on drums or steel drum, bandleader Rick Hollander envelops the RHQ's sound with broad and delicate lines. His wide range of timeless ideas make up the sound of the whole band.
