Jazz at JAKI: ZANA MORANA – Wildberry-Jazz!

ZANA MORANA is the ruler of rivers and seas. She brings spring, but also winter, night and death and creates an ecstatic soundscape of three exceptional musicians, Zuzana Leharová on violin, Andreas Wahl on electric guitar and Jo Beyer on drums.

Punky, fragile sounds and melodies contrast and immerse themselves in ZANA MORANA's sound world, consisting of contemporary jazz and improvised music, while dark power and unbridled energy are juxtaposed with transparent, delicate elements. Inspired by the female deity of Slavic mythology, Morana, Zuzana Leharová opens a new chapter in an ongoing personal and creative process of the violin in jazz. The omission of bass-like instruments plays an essential role in this trio and inspires the band to create something new. Sound nuances between acoustic and electric, between rock and experiment, grounded blues and noisy metal impressions merge as if by magic into a compact, dense sound.
