Kira Linn's Linntett
German baritone saxophonist Kira Linn is treading several new paths with her Linntett on her new program "Illusion" (release date: 07.04.23 via Whirlwind Recordings): for the first time she uses her voice and has written her own lyrics for a selection of songs. Anger and powerlessness, but also strength, diversity and freedom are core concepts and emotions that came up during Pandemic and run through the new album. The young saxophonist now brings the raw energy of the program to the Stadtgarten stage as part of her release tour.
"Illusions" in many ways defies rigid genre designations and moves in realms from jazz to pop and indie to electro, neo-soul, R&B. Or: somewhere between authentic jazz gesture, neo-soul romanticism and latent-irre Nintendo pop, played by three saxophones as well as Rhodes, electric bass and drums.
Kira Linn (bariton saxophone, bass clarinet, vocals), Nino Wenger (alto saxophone, flute), Christopher Kunz (tenor saxophone, soprano saxophone), Lukas Großmann (piano, synthesizer), Freek Mulder (bass), Johannes Koch (drums)
