La Delio Valdez

La Delio Valdez is a cumbia orchestra from Buenos Aires, Argentina. Since 2009, they have been developing a unique artistic concept, viewing cumbia as a common musical language shared across the entire Latin American continent. With 15 musicians on stage, La Delio Valdez revives the continent’s orchestral tradition, drawing in particular on the legacy of the national tango orchestras of the 1950s. Their stage presence and theatricality are reminiscent of the great Caribbean orchestras, where dance and a powerful, irresistible sound take center stage.

Their cooperative and self-managed organization is a commitment to independent music production and, at the same time, a reflection of the band members’ identity and their dedication to popular and social causes. Their sound blends traditional elements from the Andes with salsa, rock, jazz, and reggae, creating a style that is both traditional and modern: an international and contemporary sound that reflects the region’s diverse identities.
