Le Pop La Série: Laura Cahen
The French singer-songwriter Laura Cahen combines acoustic and electronic sounds in her music to create soulful, self-reflective soundscapes - always carried by her crystal-clear voice. Influences from artists such as Laurie Anderson, Laura Marling and Adrianne Lenker are also clearly audible. In the form of poetic love songs, she deals with questions of femininity, homosexuality and feminism, but also with ecological issues, for example.
ecological issues.
In the ten years of her career, Laura Cahen has already played numerous tours in France as well as parts of Europe and America. Her last release "Des Filles" featured guest appearances by Juliette Armanet, Jeanne Added and Yael Naim, among others. Three songs from her second album "Une Fille" have been used in major television shows and films, including "You" (Netflix), "Tales of the Walking Dead" (AMC) and the Oscar-nominated film "I Lost My Body".
Laura Cahen's third studio album, which she co-produced with Mike Lindsay (Tunng, LUMP) and Josephine Stephenson (Ex:Re, Damon Alban, Arctic Monkeys), will be released by PIAS Recordings in early 2025, with the first single "Quitter la ville" already being listed by major radio stations and streaming platforms. From spring 2025, she will bring "Quitter La Ville" to the stage together with multi-instrumentalist and composer Josephine Stephenson in a light and reduced duo formation.
