((( LIVESTREAM ))) NICA streams Philipp/Sauerborn & Otamanice/Leonhard Huhn

n January we started the monthly series "NICA presents ..." at JAKI. Due to the current situation we cannot continue the series as planned. As long as this is the case, we put up a new format that sees itself as an "ArtSalon" of the 21st century, that is called „NICA streams“. It brings the artists of the Cologne scene to the virtual concert room curated by the NICA artists Elisabeth Coudoux, Pablo Giw, Pablo Held and Tamara Lukasheva from our new artist development program NICA, which started last autumn.

In this musical dialogue the saxophonist Theresia Philipp and the drummer Thomas Sauerborn await you today. Both musicians have worked together for many years in the trio Kollektiv POLLON (+ double bass player David Helm), with whom they performed at the WDR3 Jazzfest in 2019. Musically, intuitive free improvisations are interwoven with compositions of both musicians and an individual form of feeling and energy is created.

With Otamanice and Leonhard Huhn, a fictive being and electronic saxophonist meet. In the past they have already performed together on stages or in buses, but now for the first time exclusively as a couple. Otamanice is a real character from the stories of the ensemble "NOW MY LIFE IS SWEET LIKE CINNAMON " and for this evening it is removed from its context as a loving half. And Leonhard Huhn will meet him with his saxophone in a mystical and herbaceous world of sound.
