Marc Ribot © Sandlin Gaither
Marc Ribot Solo
He is a pioneer of New York's downtown music scene: first he could be heard with the Lounge Lizards, with Tom Waits, Elvis Costello and the Jazz Passengers. Then he formed his own first band, the Rootless Cosmopolitans. He played with John Zorn, joined his Radical Jewish Culture with his next band Shrek, follows in Albert Ayler's footsteps with Spiritual Unity or rocks out with Ceramic Dog (most recently in 2018 at Stadtgarten). In between, he occasionally records a solo record on acoustic guitar - probably his most intimate work. Marc Ribot - one of the very great avant-gardists of the modern era.
Marc Ribot has released six very different solo guitar albums: John Zorn's "The Book of Heads" (1995), "Don't Blame Me" (1995), "Saints" (2001), "Exercises in Futility" (2008), "Silent Movies" (2010) and most recently "Plays Solo Guitar Works Of Frantz Casséus" (2021).
