Monster for Breakfast
CD Release - special performance concert -
A duo of quiet sounds and intimacy. Two voices that take the liberty of moving outside the usual musical gestures. Two voices that exchange each other, easily changing their roles or themselves until they are unrecognizable. Two voices that love the unknown. Stories unfold and improvised melodies wind their way through a hand-made background noise. So direct and so personal, which only the human voice can create.
The unique vocal duo "Monsters For Breakfast" from Cologne is not only known for their special instrumentation and their own improvisational language, but also for their joy of experimenting with collaborations. In recent years, they have worked with various formations and artists* from Oslo, Copenhagen, Portugal, Japan and the Cologne improvisation scene and have been asked to work with a preference for interdisciplinary works (dance, theatre) by composers and for projects. Last year Monsters for Breakfast were scholarship holders of the SK Stiftung KölnBonn and have prepared their second album. Their focus is on textile improvisation and influences of new music. In the context of (interdisciplinary) works they have worked with composers Sergej Meingardt and Gerhard Stäbler, among others, as well as various artists* from the international scene, such as Paulo Alvarez, Theo Bleckmann, Sidsel Endresen, Lauren Newton, Sofia Jernberg and most recently with Sainkho Namtchylak. The duo's vocalists, Mascha Corman and Thea Soti, are important players in the Cologne music scene. They curate the experimental concert series STIMMUNGEN and have worked in various collaborations with LOFT Cologne, HfMT and ON Neue Musik, among others.
