Following the release of his thoughtful, groovy single "Stranger Than Fiction" and a sold-out show at the legendary London club "Fabric", South London jazz drummer, producer and composer Moses Boyd today announces a 13-day UK and European tour for February/March 2020, ending with a show in his hometown of Brixton at the Electric. The advance sale starts on Friday 22 October at 10 a.m. (here). On the tour, Moses and the entire band will play new songs from his unannounced debut album, which will be released in early 2020.
The 2018 release of the EP "Displaced Diaspora", taken from Moses' earlier production, established Moses as a pioneer of a new up-and-coming London jazz scene. This EP includes the new dancefloor crossover "Rye LaneShuffle" (mixed by Four Tet and Floating Points). Moses is a young creator who combines several exciting musical traditions into one style: the tremendous energy of Afrobeats and the gentle club rhythms of the London underground, combined with the generous creativity and community spirit of his Jazz Foundation.
As a double MOBO & Jazz FM Award winner, Boyd's live and studio collaborations have been very diverse, ranging from tours with Sampha & Kelsey Lu and drums on Sons of Kemet's Mercury nominated album to collaborations with Mura Masa and especially with South African Gqom king DJ Lag, who found his way into Beyonce's official soundtrack for The Lion King. He produced Zara McFarlane's longplayer "Arise" for Gilles Peterson's label "Brownswood" and released several acclaimed solo projects on his label Exodus Records. Boyd has produced original titles for major Paris fashion shows, including the Louis Vuitton Foundation x MoMa Archive film (2017) and most recently the Men's Dunhill Paris fashion show in 2018 and 2019, the latter together with saxophonist Binker Golding, co-director and co-producer of Binker and Moses.
The concert is presented by ConcertteamNRW.
