NICA live: Ephemeral Fragments
The music of Ephemeral Fragments is characterized by an enormous density of textures and depth of sound. After meeting at an ad hoc concert in 2019, Florian Walter, Emily Wittbrodt and Korhan Erel decided to build on the common language they had found when they first met and began to intensify their collaboration.
The musicians from Berlin, Cologne and Zurich are united by their subtly challenging approach to their own instruments and sound as well as their interest in interacting with one another. Always on the verge of expression and experimentation based on a solid sense of control and reduction, they invite you to listen intensively. Mit Gefühl, the band's first album, was released in 2022 on Umland Records.
NICA artist development offers outstanding musicians from North Rhine-Westphalia who work in the field of jazz and contemporary music a platform for artistic profiling and professionalization of their careers. The artist development program, which is based at the European Center for Jazz and Contemporary Music at Stadtgarten Köln and funded by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, has been in existence since 2019. Cellist and composer Emily Wittbrodt has been part of the program since 2024.
