Part VI - Berlin

The Deutschlandfunk calls Janning Trumann one of the most distinguished and active young German jazz trombonists and an outstanding representative of the Cologne jazz scene. In his ensembles and projects he repeatedly demonstrates the diversity of his musical expression, whether in his New York quartet, his Cologne working band JT4, the ensemble TRILLMANN or his octet.

The multi-layered concert format Seasons focuses on contrasts and creates encounters between renowned musicians from the jazz metropolises of the world. Guests have already included Christian Lillinger, Elias Stemeseder, Eyolf Dale and Jonas Westergaard. On the occasion of the sixth edition, Janning Trumann invites two internationally renowned musicians from Berlin to Cologne: With Bernhard Meyer on electric bass, Trumann meets a sound artist with precise rhythmic articulation, who together with drummer Moritz Baumgärtner forms a well-rehearsed duo. They are internationally successful on the road in the trio MELT, among others.

Together with his musical companion from Cologne, Stafan Karl Schmid on saxophone, Trumann has conceived a new concert programme with an electronic orientation: the focus is on the "GameChanger" effect device - which enables a solo instrument to create multi-layered sound levels and permits polyphony. One can look forward to a fascinating encounter and to music that is created out of the moment.
