Paul Heller invites Marjorie Barnes, Fay Claassen, Alma Naidu & David Linx - Vocal Summit Vol. 4

With this fourth "Vocal Summit" at the latest, the vocal summit has established itself as a separate, extremely fine section within the "invites" series by Paul Heller. This time, the Summit offers a reunion with three previously celebrated female singers and one male singer, who fill a rich sound palette with vocal textures: Alma Naidu masters pop, musicals and jazz in equal measure, interpreting Duke Ellington's "Sacred Concert" with stylistic confidence as well as compositions by her own band. Jazz diva Marjorie Barnes enriches the Summit with the perspective of US-American jazz. Fay Claassen from the Netherlands and David Linx from Belgium have enjoyed a long, creative collaboration, and their vocal and stylistic flights of fancy can also be heard on the album "And Still We Swing", recorded with the WDR Big Band in 2020. New to the Summit is Juraj Stanik from the Netherlands, pianist and lecturer at The Hague Conservatory, whose playing is characterized by an always warm and friendly freshness. Stanik is a trusted collaborator of Fay Claassen and is also known for his work with Ack van Rooyen. While Caris Hermes on bass and Hans Dekker on drums have long since established themselves as a stylistically confident, grooving straight-ahead dream team, host Paul Heller's saxophone ennobles the Summit with his very own, distinctive singing voice.
