Paul Heller Invites: Swing Masters

The title of Paul Heller's latest invitation says it all: "All That Swing" promises grooving jazz in a class of its own! This is guaranteed by Heller's All-Swing-Group, a hand-picked septet of "favorite musicians" with whom Heller has played together again and again over the years. And by the way, you can once again marvel at the outstanding potential of the accomplished musicians in the local radio jazz big bands! Paul Heller, himself a tenor player in the WDR Big Band, invited trumpeter Axel Schlosser, who was a member of the Bundesjazzorchester BuJazzO from 1994 to 1998, played in other big bands such as Peter Herbolzheimer's Rhythm Combination & Brass and the Ed Partyka Big Band and has been a member of the hr-Big Band since 2002. Dan Gottshall joined the RIAS Big Band Berlin as lead trombonist in 1993 and has also been a permanent member of the NDR Big Band since 2002. Fiete Felsch was one of the very first members of the BuJazzO in 1987 and became the first alto saxophonist in the NDR Big Band in 1995. So much experience and playing expertise calls for a no less accomplished rhythm section, which can be found in Thilo Wagner, Ingmar Heller and Jörg Achim Keller. You could write a book about Keller alone: The drummer, composer and arranger was chief conductor of the hr-Bigband for eight years, has a breathtaking stylistic range and is one of the most internationally sought-after musicians and arrangers today. All these musicians come together only with Paul Heller, allies in spirit - with "all that Swing"!
