Blood Siren" (Release: January 2019 | Blue Note Records) is Sarah McCoy's major label debut, in which her sometimes darkly breathing, sometimes voluminously radiant voice is captured, which can make you shiver and touch deeply. The songs, all written by herself, are as open and intimate as her diary entries. Music journalist Brett Milano describes her music as "the stories of a survivor, full of disappointed hopes and lost friendships, performed with defiance and determination". Sarah McCoy, born in Pine Plains near New York, a city of 2,500 inhabitants, spent most of her twenties as a singer and pianist in the glowing hot clubs of New Orleans, a city full of traditions, myths, strokes of fate - and with a lot of magic. The perfect place for her drop-out life, which she chose when she was in her early 20s. Now, at the age of 33, she continues a tradition and perfects it at the same time: she turns her own confused biography into musical poetry.
"Blood Siren", produced in collaboration with Chilly Gonzales and Renaud Letang, is the result of a personal journey and catharsis, an album that oscillates between blues, jazz, film noir pop and underworld cabaret, ensnaring the listener with beauty and soft terror.
