SONIQ New Folk Songs
2G+ Regelung // Geimpft oder Genesen + zusätzlich tagesaktueller Antigen-Schnelltest
Folk songs are authentic testimonies of language, culture and tradition. They are called so because they are sung by many people, by the people. The simplicity and honesty in this music and the way stories are transported is touching.
Variation, re-creation, playing by ear, imitation, change, creativity. These core elements are familiar not only to folk music, but also to jazz and improvised music. So it is more than obvious that the musicians of the collective SONIQ - all rooted in the cosmopolitan jazz of the 21st century - take up, revive and reinvent folk music traditions in their current project.
At a time when Europe is growing together on the one hand, and nation-state thinking is strengthening again on the other, it is SONIQ's concern that inner-European cultures communicate intensively, exchange ideas in many different ways, speak with each other, sing with each other. Learning another language or songs in another language always means empathising with other traditions, it presupposes empathy for others.
