Stadtgarten Experimental Band | First Edition © Christian Schäfer
Stadtgarten Experimental Band | First Edition
Multifaceted, creative and cooperative: the players in Cologne's improvised and contemporary music scene have the potential to develop and establish their own special voice - playfully and/or compositionally. The newly founded Stadtgarten Experimental Band builds on this strong foundation.
The artistically equal ensemble varies its line-up in each work phase, transcends musical and spatial boundaries and offers individually strong voices an outstanding ensemble for working on new compositions and working methods for the same with the aim of stimulating and depicting the creation of contemporary music. The compositions of the first edition of the project are by Julia Sanjurjo, Jorik Bergman, Pascal Klewer, Fabian Dudek, Olga Reznichenko and Alexander Parzhuber.
The second edition of the Stadtgarten Experimental Band will take place with a rehearsal phase and concerts in November 2025 and will focus on networking with the Dutch scene. The first two editions are organised by Fabian Dudek, Felix Hauptmann and Esther Weickel. The European Centre for Jazz and Contemporary Music Stadtgarten Cologne is the anchor point of the project and is supported organisationally by NICA artist development.
Funded by the Musikfonds and Kunststiftung NRW.
