GREEN DAYS | 11.02 - 15.02.2021
Kaleo Sansaa is an artist who immediately captivates the audience with her unique sound: Sun-Drunk Sound and Solar-Based Hip-Hop! With these neologisms of her own invention, she tries to capture the essence of her genre: A sound that seems to come from the heart of the sun; genuine, honest and meditative. Solar-Based Hip Hop is the pure expression of the soul and is characterized primarily by hypnotic, experimental hip-hop beats. At the center of their music is Kaleo Sansaa's "Solar-Based Philosophy." The core message is the belief that the sun never really sets for humans. Equal to the rules of the solar system, humans and the sun merely move away from each other temporarily. The artist describes the sun as her greatest inspiration and pays tribute to it in her name "SANSAA": SAN=SUN (meaning "sun") and "SAA" (Swahili for "time"). These two components merge and symbolize the infinite energy of the sun. Kaleo Sansaa has already been nominated for a number of awards across Europe, most recently for the prestigious Pop NRW award for best newcomer in 2019. In July 2018, the Zambian-born artist first toured southern Africa, visiting Cape Town, Johannesburg and Lusaka. She then continued the success of that tour in Germany in the winter of 2018, sharing the stage with popular US duo Oshun. Since the release of her debut EP, unmistakably titled "Purple Moon," Sansaa is now considered a versatile insider tip on European and African stages. After further nominations at festivals across Europe, the exceptional artist won the award for Best Music Video at the Berlin Short Film Festival 2018 for her work "Metamorphosen". In 2019 followed the nomination as INES Talent on the part of the INES Showcase Festival Network. For Kaleo Sansaa, the year 2020 meant above all intensive studio work: After the release of her second EP "Paradise not Lost" in February 2020, the Cologne-based musician is currently working on her debut album, which will be released in March 2021.
