The list of local artists who can be called multi-instrumentalist mixture, nu-folk is quite short. In fact, this applies to only one - Matthew Mole.

Ghost contains Matthew's signature eclectic mix of folk, electronic undertones and positive vibes. "While the new album contains the usual traits," says Matthew, "I've experimented a lot more with electronics and introduced a slightly 'bigger' sound in terms of instrumentation.

The inspiration behind the album, he says, is overcoming all sorts of difficulties. That's also the inspiration for the album's title. A quirky addition is that the ghost who graces the cover has a name - and his own Instagram account! "He's cute," Matthew explains, "but Olly, which is short for oleander, stands for fear."

And that's exactly what Ghost is all about. "The songs on this album represent struggling, difficult life situations. A lot of the difficulty is due to fear or insecurity. Ghost represents those insecurities," he explains. "It's something that intimidates us when we feel most vulnerable, but ultimately has no power over us because we know things will get better.
