WDR Big Band feat. Marquis Hill
Der VVK ist beendet. Es sind noch Restkarten (Stehplätze) an der Abendkasse erhältlich.
From his beginnings as one of Chicago's most exciting young trumpeters to his current status as an internationally renowned musician, composer and bandleader, Marquis Hill has worked tirelessly to transcend genre boundaries. Contemporary and classical jazz, hip-hop, R&B, Chicago House, neo-soul - for Hill they are all essential elements of the profound Afro-American creative heritage in which he participates.
Chicago was already considered the hot spot of jazz in the 1920s, and the city on the east coast attracted many prominent musicians, including Louis Armstrong and King Oliver. This long list must now be supplemented by a name at the latest: Marquis Hill.
Dieser now lives in New York, but still plays regularly in his old homeland. And already today, at just 31 years of age, the trumpeter enjoys the highest esteem among his colleagues, working with greats such as bassist Marcus Miller and saxophonist Joe Lovano. Hill also has his own band, the "Blacktet". With its groovy and impulsive trumpet tone, Marquis Hill is one of the most promising "youngsters" of the American East Coast.
