Wendy Eisenberg
The first musical collaboration between US singer and guitarist Wendy Eisenberg and cellist Emily Wittbrodt from Cologne took place last October as part of the Leipziger Jazztage. The musician, born in Bonn in 1994, is always looking for the most honest way to translate her observations, thoughts and feelings into sound. In 2023, she released an album under the same name with her project make you stay on the Ana Ott label, featuring a harmonious conglomerate of baroque forms, experimental improvisation and melancholy lyrics. Eisenberg is also perceptibly on the move in border areas and knows how to keep her audience on their toes and would prefer to have everything at the same time: catchy melodies, post-punk attitude and free jazz. Her latest album Viewfinder was released in mid-September 2024. A song cycle about the confusing immediacy of the world and the localization of one's own otherness after the eyes have been deprived of their physically induced blurriness.
The musicians play the first set of the evening, pieces by both, as a duo. In the second set, Wendy Eisenberg presents herself and her current trio for the first time in Cologne, with whom Eisenberg celebrated her concert premiere in the Netherlands the previous evening at the Rewire Festival in The Hague.
