Yoshi Tschira Quintett // Duo Schriefl/Sitzmann & Special Guests
Reihe: Nebenwirkungen
In the first part, Matthias Schriefl will perform with various young musicians from the Yoshi Tschira Quintet in small formations ranging from duo to quintet and solo and present his own pieces. Schriefl's pieces are full of whimsical ideas, but remain anti-elitist and passionate in every note and gesture despite the broad theoretical background. In the second part, the Yoshi Tschira Quintet will present the bandleader's own pieces.
The Yoshi Tschira Quintet interweaves compositions by their American and European role models with their own pieces to create an organic sound. Their aesthetic inspirations include modern jazz artists such as Wolfgang Muthspiel, Ambrose Akinmusire, Kurt Rosenwinkel and Brad Mehldau. The cosmopolitan, lively spirit of jazz is just as inherent in their music as the longing for a haven of peace in the confusion of everyday life. It is about the search for harmony and unity without risking stagnation. Because in a stimulus-flooded and inconsistent world, balance becomes resistance to the maelstrom of fluctuation. And stringency is rebellion against transience.
Matthias Schriefl (trumpet, flute, tuba, alphorn), Yoshi Tschira (guitar, composition), Jani Laakso (trumpet, flughelhorn), Moritz Langmaier (piano), Moritz Holdenried (double bass), Ilja Tarnopolskij (drums), Special Guest: Bjarne Sitzmann (guitar)
