Cologne Music Week: Paula Engels / TOOLOUDFORTHEROOM
Paula Engels gives every thought a chance. Even the ugly ones. And so she texts her way from the darkest corner of her head into our driven hearts. The musician doesn't want to hide, prefers to tell every shadow, share every
share emotion. She believes that only those who don't hide behind things can seriously connect.
In her lyrics, Paula puts what is going on inside her on the outside in a nuanced way. In catchy and delicate language, the musician talks about the shame caused by addiction, the anger at herself and the fear that lies beneath everything.
Paula's songs want to touch and make others feel a little less alone with their own struggles. Paula ensures that they remain tangible - and reminds us with her unpretentious, light-footed coolness that fun feels even more intense when you take a closer look at your own demons from time to time.
The dynamic creative collective TOOLOUDFORTHEROOM from Hamburg promotes local culture with a particular passion for music, film and photography and stands out with its unique aesthetic. Founded in the Hamburg-Harburg district, including Paula Hartmann at the beginning of her music career, the collective now comprises a diverse group of artists, including videographers, creative directors, producers and artists such as ELEF, moé, Sant, Friso, Ghostboo and Lenzy.
TOOLOUDFORTHEROOM is authentic and deeply rooted in the local culture and has had its first major successes: sold-out shows, its own slots on festival stages such as Spektrum, its own merchandise, over 50 published songs and its own content format. The latter, like their own shows, is also to be realized with artists outside the collective bubble in order to open up a space for exchange and mutual growth.
