With more than 400 events each year we try to cover the current development of Jazz and today's music in our concert hall and JAKI - Klub im Stadtgarten. We also pay explicit attention to artistic ambitious pop music, singer-/songwriting and written contemporary and electronic music. It is here at the crosspoint of all these styles where we find the most interesting shapes and shades of music since the beginning of the 21st century. It is our aim to follow these developments at eye level and to looking forward to the adventure of music every day.

JAKI is the club of the Stadtgarten that has managed to create its own identity as a location. It is characterized by the wide variety of musical styles ranging from Jazz to Reggae and its great clubnights featuring electronic music as well as soul and hiphop. With the concert series „Jazz@JAKI“ it presents itself in a more traditional way and relates to the model of New York Jazz clubs. Every saturday night local, regional but also international bands come and play mainstream jazz.

Stadtgarten is more than a concert hall. Located along its namesake park with its cosy restaurant and café, ist beergarden and its mediterranean garden restaurant for all ages it is a popular leisure hotspot in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the city of Cologne. The menus feature fresh seasonal and regional ingredients and avoid frozen and pre-made whereever possible. One could say that in this sense Stadtgarten was one of the venues that lead the way to the slow food movement which is now a global thing. Organic wines, non-alcoholic wines, high-quality liquor as well as varied vegetarian and vegan choices compliment the menu and leaves nothing to be desired.

In order to maintain its independence the 'Initiative Kölner Jazz Haus e.V.‘ decided to rent parts of the Stadtgarten venue to the operating company of the Stadtgarten restaurant. The concerts are basically paid for by the revenue from this rental agreement which thereby enables the Initiative to uphold the usual professional level for musicians and audience alike.

Beer Garden
Our beer garden is one of the most beautiful ones in Cologne and has direct access to the ‘Stadtgarten’ city parklands. In summer, it’s a gorgeous place to enjoy the lush green surroundings in nice weather, and in winter, the smell of mulled wine and freshly baked cookies waft through the park when the annual Stadtgarten Christmas Markets are on again.
