Pianist, composer and electronic musician Elias Stemeseder (German Jazz Award 2023 as 'Pianist of the Year') and Grammy-nominated bassist Thomas Morgany met for the first time in 2010 as part of US drummer Jim Black's trio. In the following decade, they played numerous concerts in the same constellation and recorded albums for Winter&Winter and Intakt Records. Their duo program presents pieces from 5 centuries in colourful reinterpretations and chamber music intimacy.

Elias Stemeseder (*1990), pianist, keyboard instrumentalist, electronic musician and composer. Plays actively on acoustic piano, harpsichord, synthesizers and samplers. His current projects include the electro-acoustic group STEMESEDER - LILLINGER, Neon Dilemma (with Robert Landfermann and Leif Berger), WRENS with Ryan Easter, Jason Nazary and Lester St. Louis as well as collaborative duos with trumpeter Peter Evans and keyboard instrumentalist Georg Vogel. He also performs as a sideman in ensembles with Anna Webber, Adam O'Farrill, Ingrid Laubrock, Chris Tordini, Michael Attias and Eric McPherson. In the past he has worked with Laurie Anderson, John Zorn, Greg Cohen and Joe McPhee, among others, and was a longtime member of the Jim Black Trio with four critically acclaimed releases on Winter&Winter and Intakt Records. His most recent releases include UMBRa, PIANO SOLO (both on Intakt Records), PENUMBRA (on Plaist Records) and Ddiofeo (Schattellit Records). Elias Stemeseder was Artist in Residence at The Stone NYC in September 2022 and is the winner of the German Jazz Award 2023 in the category Pianist/Keyboardist of the Year.

Thomas Morgan (*1981) New York jazz bassist; born in Hayward, California; member of bands led by Craig Taborn, Jakob Bro, Giovanni Guidi, Dan Weiss, Jacob Sacks, and formerly Paul Motian, John Abercrombie, Steve Coleman, Tomasz Stańko, Masabumi Kikuchi.
