"Charlie Mariano: Last Visits" - Doku-Film

Im Vorfeld des Konzertes

This evening is dedicated to Charlie Mariano, who would have turned 100 years old today. As a saxophonist, composer and world musician, Charlie Mariano had a significant influence on European jazz and inspired generations of musicians with his playing and love of music.
Charlie Mariano spent his last 23 years in the cathedral city and died there in 2009.

Before today's concert we will show the film "Charlie Mariano: Last Visits". The film by Cologne filmmaker Axel Engstfeld accompanies Mariano to his concerts in his last year. Engstfeld paid him a few visits at home in Cologne, in which Charlie Mariano tells of his life's journey. Extensive and exclusive concert footage from his birthday concerts in Stuttgart and Cologne allow Charlie Mariano to be experienced live once again. The film is available for distribution from Real Fiction.
Admission to the film is free.

At 8:00 pm the concert "The Music of Charlie Mariano" begins, a tribute to his musical work and spirit. Initiated by Mathhias Schriefl, several other long-time companions of Mariano will also play.
