CANCELLED: Elisabeth Coudoux presents First Meeting

An evening full of new encounters. As artist in residence, cellist Elisabeth Coudoux invites various guests to a musical encounters that has never been seen before. In the first part of the evening, she will meet the Belgian baritone saxophonist Hanne De Backer in a freely improvised set. Last year she released her second album with her project g a b b r o and has already played with musicians such as Ken Vandermark, Wolf Eyes, Paul Lovens, Satoko Fuji, Audrey Lauro, Steve Swell, Paal Nilssen-Love and Farida Amadou. In the second part of the evening the baton will be passed on. Hanne De Backer will then meet some improvisation musicians from Cologne who have been selected by Elisabeth Coudoux for this evening.

With NICA artist development, a pilot project for the promotion of jazz musicians* has started in autumn 2019 at the European Centre for Jazz and Contemporary Music. Starting in January, the four artists in residence Elisabeth Coudoux, Pablo Giw, Pablo Held and Tamara Lukasheva will regularly present their musical ideas, visions, cooperations or discoveries under their names in the monthly concert series "NICA presents" at the in-house club JAKI.
