EKKSTACY © Jason Peterson
EKKSTACY has found a specific sound for himself, which he describes as a mixture of indie, post-punk and synth-wave. Inspired by artists like Elliot Smith, The Drums or Bon Iver, nostalgic 80s vibes resonate in his music again and again. But even though pessimism and melancholy are motifs EKKSTACY likes to use often, his songs are not afraid to go forward and rage with energy once in a while.
EKKSTACY stands in humorous contrast to each other. First of all, its name reminds of a party drug, but it itself couldn't be further from the euphoria that is triggered after popping this pill. EKKSTACY offer space for a generation that would like to have fun but is drowning in sadness, that longs to make an impression on the world and wonders what contribution it can make that has not yet been made.
SCHLUTIUS is about people who are at the fringes of society and about suppressed feelings. The songwriter from Cologne does this in a simple but precisely chosen language which she packs into lovely, naive musical garments. Her place of origin Seattle shapes her sound, which is located between folk, experimental pop and grunge.
