The former Cologne-based Markus Stockhausen is considered one of the most distinguished trumpeters worldwide. At the intersection of jazz, classical music, new music and electronic experiments, he is constantly searching for new possibilities of expression. In the pieces by Stockhausen, Comisso and Brinkmann, a synthesis between contemporary jazz and European art music, harmonious interweavings of composition and improvisation are formed, creating a great depth, a tonal breadth, but also a lightness, something playful and sometimes humorous. The quartet's first release "Far into the Stars" was released by OKeh/Sony Music and received excellent reviews in the specialist press. In 2018 the group received the "Echo Jazz" award for this CD.
