When you stand in front of the stage with D/troit and slowly surrender to the rhythmic twitching of your own body, you always don't believe that these well-dressed gentlemen don't even come from the legendary city to which their name refers. Their sound is exactly the melange of 60s-R'n'B, Funk, Soul and Rock'n'Roll, which was still mixed most beautifully in Detroit. But D/troit are actually Danes, although bandleader and singer Toke Bo Nisted sounds as if he had already made the clubs of Motor City unsafe back then. D/troit's current, second album is appropriately titled "Heavy" and began with a song of the same name that immediately draws you into this upbeat, history-rich soundscape. Now D/troit will finally present the album live next spring. So if you're in the mood for a perfect evening of dance and soul, and perhaps have albums by Curtis Harding, Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings, The Bamboos, Alabama Shakes, The Teskey Brothers, Durand Jones & The Indications in your home record collection - D/troit would be right up your alley.
