Harold López-Nussa Trio
Karsten Jahnke präsentiert
Harold López-Nussa is an internationally acclaimed pianist and composer, a true jazz sensation. In October and November he comes to Germany for some soulful evenings. The pianist's music reflects the full range and richness of his Cuban heritage, with a distinctive combination of classical, folk and popular elements. His roots in classical music, which he studied exclusively until the age of eighteen, the twenty years he has since spent intensely and passionately studying the history and future of jazz, and the Afro-Cuban music that has constantly accompanied and shaped him throughout, make him one of the most fascinating piano virtuosos of his generation. His style of jazz improvisation is fresh, exciting and the embodiment of ritmo. His latest album, 2020's 'Te Lo Dije', received a four-star review from DownBeat Magazine and reached #1 on the Latin North American College & Community (NACC) Radio Chart.
"López-Nussa's grace in single-note playing resembles that of Herbie Hancock, and his attacks played with both fists are as gratifying as Chick Corea's."
